The Alta Toquima wilderness area is near the geographic center of Nevada and is made up of 38,000 acres. Situated in the middle of three wild ranges, it boasts dramatic, glacier carved canyons, tumbling creeks, and high alpine tablelands. From certain vantage points, you can see clear across the state of Nevada, to California in the west and Utah in the east. Mt.Jefferson, with it's triple peaks, is the centerpiece of the Toquima mountain range with an elevation of 11,949 feet at the south summit. With contour lines. Waterproof.

The Arc Dome Wilderness comprises of the southern third of the Toiyabe Range, which is a rugged spine of mountains in central Nevada with difficult access. The Red Mountain Wilderness is a 20,490-acre (83 km2) wilderness area in southwestern White Pine County and northeastern Nye County, within the White Pine Range in the U.S. state of Nevada. The Wilderness lies within the Humboldt-Toiyabe National Forest, administered by the U.S. Forest Service. Bordered by Currant Mountain Wilderness on the west, the Red Mountain Wilderness and White Pine Range Wilderness was created by the "White Pine County Conservation, Recreation and Development Act of 2006." It is characterized by volcanic red-orange hills and mountains covered with pinyon pine, limber pine, and bristlecone pine.

With more than 113,000 acres, some of the purest air in the country and remote location, the Jarbidge Wilderness in far north-central Nevada offers true wilderness backbountry. The Quinn Canyon and Grant Ranges are part of the Basin and Range geologic province which occupies much of the western and southwestern part of the United States. The region coprises almost all of Nevada, the western half of Utah, southeastern California, and the southern part of Arizona. The province's topography consists of numerous, north-south trending mountain ranges separated by basins. These basins are between 4,00 and 6,000 feet above sea level with intervening ranges soaring toward 14,000ft. Welcome to the Spring Mountains National Recreation Area and the Red Rock Canyon National Conservation Area. The Spring Mountains National Recreation Area (SMNRA), Humboldt-Toiyabe National Forest, and the Red Rock Canyon National Conservation Area (RRCNCA), Las Vegas District, Bureau of Land Management, are located west of Las Vegas in the Spring Mountain Range. These unique areas are easilty accessible by state highways and together contain five eco-zones ranging from the Southern Desert Shrub Zone to the Pseudo-Alpine Zone. Elevation ranges from 3,720 feet at the RRCNCA Visitor Center to 11,918 feet on Charleston Peak.

The Table Mountain wilderness area is in the Monitor mountain range. It is the third largest wilderness area in the state and hosts approximately 80 miles of hiking trails. This wilderness is most popular with horse packers and equestrians, with hikers and backpackers coming in a distant second. Nearly 115 miles long, the Monitor range is long and narrow. Table Mountain Wilderness Wilderness straddles the range with 98,000 acres. At a elevation of 10,000 feet, Table Mountain is a 12 square mile tableland. With contour lines. Waterproof.

The Inyo National Forest is an outdoor playground for millions of visitors every year. The Forest extends 165 miles along the California and Nevada border, and covers about 2 million acres. Located mostly on the eastern slope of the Sierra Nevada ranger, the Forest contains pristine lakes, high elevation meadows, winding streams, unique Jeffrey Pine forests, rugged peaks, and arid Great Basin mountains. Elevation range from 4000' in Owens Valley, to 14,496' at Mt. Whitney, the highest peak in the contiguous United States.
