Privacy policy. We do not share, sell, or rent any customer information with any people or entities outside of Omni Resources, except that we will comply with legal law enforcement subpoenas.
Credit card charges. Like most on-line retailers we validate and authorize your credit card at the time you place the order. Your card is not charged until the items are shipped. You are charged only for those items shipped. You are not charged for any backordered items until the items are actually shipped. The validation/authorization may show on your bank account as a temporary hold for a short period of time (varies from bank to bank, but typically 3-10 days) but the funds are still in your account. Your account is not debited until the items are shipped.
Mailing List. We have a monthly newsletter that includes new map arrivals, a monthly sale listing only available to mail-list recipients, and Omni Resources contact information. When you place an on-line order with us you can accept or decline addition to our mailing list. If you decide you no longer want to receive the New Arrivals monthly e-mail, each New Arrivals e-mail has two methods of removal included in the e-mail. If you would like to be added or removed from the mailing list please e-mail us at [email protected] and we will promptly comply with your request. Please note our privacy policy above, which also applies to our e-mail mailing list.
What if I don't see what I'm looking for? If you do not see what you need, please send us an e-mail about what you need. We often have new material that has not yet been catalogued or we can recommend an appropriate substitute. If you're looking for detailed topographic coverage, our staff can help you to locate the particular quadrangle that you need. We are continuing to load index maps on line, and to itemize the various quadrangle series. Please check the on-line listing to see if the index you need is available. If not, contact us and we will be happy to assist you in finding the quadrangle you need. Need a special geological map? Contact us and we can advise you what might be available.
What if I need futher information? We can frequently provide additional information such as the size of the map, the format (rolled or folded) and the level of detail of the map.
What if the map is out of print? When a map goes out of print, it may be still available from our stock for a limited period of time. We can advise you if a given map is still available or whether stocks are completely exhausted. If the map is out of print, we can often advise of a local library that might have a copy, or advise on a suitable substitute.
What happens if the map is backordered? We try to fill all orders from stock, but on occasion we are out of stock of a particular item. We will notify you of the stock status and an estimated delivery date. Supplies from Africa, Asia, and South America are irregular and sporadic. Travel maps are usually back in stock more quickly than topographic or thematic maps and backorders rarely exceed a month or so. We send map buyers to many countries each year to buy maps, and often new stock will not be available until after the next trip to a given country. For some countries, such as Nicaragua, Vietnam and China for example, delays may reach 6 months to a year.
How do you ship my order? We normally ship orders by UPS or USPS Priority Mail within the USA or by Federal Express for orders going overseas. We prefer Federal Express for several reasons; with our discount, which we pass on to the customer, it is often less expensive than airmail; it is quicker; and it is traceable. We use airmail for smaller packages going overseas, where it is less expensive. U.S. Post Office international shipping regulations restrict mailing tubes to 36" in length. Tubes are more expensive to ship than folded maps, so please let us know if you want us to fold flat maps for shipping. Parcels sent by mail are sent registered return receipt. Please note that Omni Resources is not responsible for lost packages if you request a less expensive, non-trackable shipping method.
What if I need the map immediately? We offer same-day shipping if the order is placed by noon eastern time. The shipment will arive the next day for USA locations, including Alaska and Hawaii. The shipment will arrive in approximately 1-3 days for European locations, or 3-5 days for Asian, African, or South American locations. There is a $5 handling charge on all rush orders, plus any additional shipping charges for express delivery.
What is the return policy on maps? We ask that you select carefully on the purchase of maps and atlases, because we do not accept returns of maps, atlases, or videotapes. In some circumstances we do allow "on approval" orders, but only by prior arrangement. We replace any damaged or incorrect shipments at no additional charge.
What if the shipment is damaged or there was an error in shipment? Please contact us immediately if there is an errorpackage is damaged. If possible, refuse obviously damaged packages at the time of delivery and let us know. We will ship a replacement at no additional charge. If there is hidden damage,package is left on your doorstep, please notify us. Please save all packaging as the UPS driver will want to see the packaging.
How big is Omni Resources? Omni Resources is a small company specializing in hard to acquire international maps, with about 250,000 items listed on our web site. Nearly all of our maps are items not available in the typical US superbookstore or local map store. Nearly all of our maps are purchased directly from the various foreign government map agencies and international commercial map publishers. In many cases we are the only importer into the USA of maps from a particular publisher. As noted above, delivery times from some government agencies can take months. During the travel season and holiday season, we get swamped with e-mail information requests and it may take a few days for us to get back to you with an answer. Please be patient, we will get you an answer to your question.
