Topographic mapping is not complete for the country. In fact there is no single scale that offers complete coverage of the country.
The 1:250,000 coverage is most complete in the south, and nearly lacking in the Amazon Basin region. There are radar image maps available
for the Amazon Basin region, but they lack contour lines. The 1:250,000 itemized listing of quadrangles lists the quads that we have had in
stock in the past two years or so. These quads are not always available in Brazil, so often we are out a quad for years at a time until
the Brazilian government reprints a quad. We can supply digital (raster and vector) files for nearly all topographic maps that have been printed.
The 1:50,000 and 1:100,000 scale topographic series are also incomplete. The 1:50,000 are most complete in the southern populated regions,
while the 1:100,000 cover the rest of the country. On the 1:50,000/1:100,000 index map, the colored quads indicate maps that have been printed,
not maps that are available. Many of these maps were printed back in the 1950's and 1960's and are no longer available. Having said all of that,
order what you need and we'll see what we can do.
NOTE: Delivery of maps from Brazil takes months and is erratic at best. We normally receive less than 25% of what we order. Having said all of that,
order what you need and we'll see what we can do. Please understand however that your map may be on order for quite some time.
Coverage is best in the south and east; least in the Amazon Basin. Sheets listed above are those sheets we have had in stock in recent years.
Those sheets not listed are either not yet printed (primarily the Amazon Basin) or sheets that are out of print and not available. Please note in the "Comments" section if you are willing to accept the black/white radar image maps (which lack contours) in place of topographic maps that are not available.
NOTE: Obtaining maps from Brazil is very difficult. New stock is received only after long delays, and often we receive less than 10% of what we order.
There are radar image maps available for much of Brazil, including the Amazon Basin where regular topos do not exist. These maps lack contour lines.
Please note in the "Comments" section of the order form which sheet number(s) you would like.
NOTE: Obtaining maps from Brazil is difficult and has very long delays, usually exceeding 6 months. We normally receive less than 10% of what we order.
The 1:100,000 and 1:50,000 topographic coverage is essentially complementary. The 1:100,000 maps offer coverage in the north, central, and western parts of the country while the 1:50,000 maps offer coverage of the populous southeast region. On the index maps, the solid colored quads are quads that are available as 1:100,000 maps; the hatchured quads are those available as 1:50,000 maps.
